Over the last few weeks, we have talked a lot about Abraham’s life. As we wrap up this series, our focus will be on the things we can glean regarding faith, from examining his life, this week and next.

If you missed out on last week post, than you can check it out here.

Maintain the Faith

We cannot obtain anything from God without having faith. Faith is not what we see, but faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV).

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him”

Hebrews 11:6 NLT

Faith is our substance to our belief in God. We do not obtain things from God without first faith in Him.

Abraham showed us that we must maintain our faith in God despite what seasons we may be in or what we see in the moment. Also, when God tells us things that may seem to coincide with His original word that He gave us.

We must always be praying and seeking God to know what He is saying at that current time. God is bigger, and His plans are bigger than what we can comprehend. We are called to seek after God and be ever discerning, so we don’t miss a word or move of God. And we must have faith that God is our Lord, and He will never lead us astray.

“‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’”

Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT

If Abraham never would have taken his son to that mountain top, then God would’ve never expanded His blessings upon Abraham’s life.

“It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,”

Hebrews 11:17 NLT

Can we still maintain our faith in God like Abraham did, when He calls us to what may seem like impossible things?

Despite what God calls us to, the test we must endure/pass, or what season were are in, we must hold on to our faith and do all that He ask of us. For we never fully know all that God is working out in our obedience to him.

Promise Keeper

Our faith should never waver. We must be steadfast in the word and promises of God.

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double minded and unstable in all they do”

James 1:6-8 NIV

God is a promise keeper. The Lord shall uphold His word.

“So shall my word that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”

Isaiah 55:11 KJV

“For no word from God will ever fail”

Luke 1:37 NIV

“For with God nothing shall be impossible”

Luke 1:37 KJV

“For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment,”

Luke 1:37 AMPC

“Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’”

Mark 9:23 NKJV

“It is impossible for God to lie”

Hebrews 6:18 NIV

God’s word won’t fail, so we can put our hope and trust in Him and into His word.

“For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in his own name…Then Abraham waited patiently, and received what God had promised

Hebrews 6:13-15 NLT

It wasn’t a matter IF God was going to fulfill His promise; it was more of a matter of WHEN.

If we prayed and believed with a posture of expectation that God is going to do what He said, what would our life look like? This week I implore all of you all to pray and seek God with expectation. He is going to fulfill every promise that He has given you. Y’all have a great week and don’t forget to uplift, inspire, enlighten , and, more importantly, encourage somebody.
