Last week, we talked about Jesus and him giving us the greatest gift: our salvation. This week we will be expanding on that and highlighting the fact that we have been given a second chance in life.
When Christ died and rose again, we died and rose with Him when we accepted Christ as our savior.
“And since we have died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.”
Romans 6:8 NLT
“For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:6 NLT
God has given us a new life in and through Him. We have been born again.
“Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again.’”
John 3:3 NIV
“Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
1 Peter 1:3 AMP
We have been made right with God through grace. Our works/deeds don’t make us righteous, but it is our faith in Jesus Christ that does. And the people of Israel had difficulty comprehending that the Law (the Law of Moses) couldn’t save them or make them righteous alone.
“For no person will be justified [freed of guilt and declared righteous] in His sight by [trying to do] the works of the Law. For through the Law we become conscious of sin [and the recognition of sin directs us toward repentance, but provides no remedy for sin].”
Romans 3:20 AMP
So, we needed Jesus to come and make us righteous and put us in right standing with God. For, “Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.” (1 Corinthians 1:30 NLT)
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight.”
Romans 3:23-24 NLT
And God has done all of this because of His great love for us. He desired us to be free. For that was His original intention. He dwelled with/among Adam and Eve in the garden.
God seeks to do life with us. He wants to be our King and Lord. And we weren’t created to do life without a relationship with Him.
For, God sent His son to redeem us and give us another chance, the perfect chance to dwell with and for Him. So, don’t take your walk with Him for granted. It came at a high price and was done so in love.
