“Whoever has ears, let him hear.” (Matthew 13:9 NIV)

Let’s recap our hearing from God series:

Part one, Make time for God

Part two, How God speaks

And Part three, His word, Our life

For this last part, we will be highlighting the why of it all.

Why is it important to hear from God? Why is it important to seek His voice? Why it’s so crucial to our Christian Walk?

Our anchor/His promise

God’s word is our anchor. When we face the challenges of life, His word is what upholds us.

His promises and what He has spoken are what we hold on to. For, “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 AMPC).

When we have moments of weariness, we know that God remains faithful to His word.

And He will bring up His word for you to declare in those moments:

  • “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.” (Deuteronomy 28: 12-13 NKJV)
  • “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (Exodus 14:14 NLT)
  • “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19 NLT)
  • “The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, And He delights in his way [and blesses his path]. When he falls, he will not be hurled down, Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand and sustains him.” (Psalms 37:23-24 AMP)
  • “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT)
  • “And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.” (Matthew 6:30 NLT)
  • “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33 NLT)

We can hope and hold on to the words that God gives and speaks to us.

And His word is a guide to everlasting life. We gain knowledge and wisdom on what to do and how to do it.

“He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”

Psalms 23:3 NIV

And to know the right paths, we must hear from Him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

The word of God is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path (Psalms 119).

We cannot know God nor please Him without knowing His voice. For Jesus said that His sheep know His voice (John 10:27).

And as a Christian, we shouldn’t be bumbling around in the dark trying to figure life out. Our eyes should be continually set upon the Lord. Because He says, “For I know the thought’s that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV).

God has everything planned out. He knows where we are currently and what’s next for us. We need not worry.

So, lean into God. Hear his voice. Find the peace that God provides past all our understanding. Rest in knowing that God still speaks and has an answer to everything going on in our life.

Y’all have a great week and remember to uplift, inspire, and enlighten, and, more importantly, encourage someone. If you want to reach out or have any prayer request or questions, then you can submit them here.
