“Whoever has ears, let him hear.” (Matthew 13:9 NIV)
There will never be a time when we have absolutely nothing to do. Our days are jam-packed with obligations and responsibilities.
The bible says, “When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required” (Luke 12:48 NLT).
We are tasked with more because we have more. It’s both a blessing and a burden at times.
But despite having so much going on, are we taking the time out in our busy schedules to hear from God?
Are we unknowingly operating out of routine instead of pursuit?
Could we be missing a move of God because we are still holding on to the old thing out of routine or comfort?
God could be doing a new thing (Isaiah 43:19) and we do not see it because we are so occupied with what we have going on.
So, for the next few weeks, for our March series, we will be reconnecting our ears to the frequency of heaven.
We will be shutting out the noise and casting our eyes and ears back on Him.
For this first part of our series, we will be reflecting and carving out time with God.
Reflection
Take a moment and reflect. Has anything taken God’s place in your life? Have you put anything before Him?
It could even be the things that He has blessed you with. It could be your job, family, a church position, money, or even yourself.
It seems that we can find time to do everything else in our day, like working out, or scrolling on social media. But find it difficult to carve out time to pray and read our word.
Therefore, repent of the things that have taken God’s time in your life and ask God to come and be your priority again.
Making time for God
To be able to hear from God, we first must be in His presence. So, by dedicating a part of our day to prayer, shows God that we are serious about putting Him first.
Let this time that you take disrupt your day. Meaning, let it be a sacrifice. Whether it be part of your lunch break, or a portion of time that cuts in into your own personal downtime. But it must disrupt your day.
By setting this time with God, it is exercising discipline but also building a better relationship with your Father.
This is a time to commune with God outside your normal prayer time. And to help with being consistent in this area, set an alarm on your phone. When it goes off, you know what time it is.
“But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”
Matthew 6:6 NLT
And over the next few weeks, we will be discussing; the many ways we can hear from God, how the bible speaks directly to the season we are in, and how essential hearing from God is in our Christian Walk.
Y’all have a great week and remember to uplift, inspire, enlighten, and, more importantly, encourage someone. If you want to reach out or have any prayer request or questions, then you can submit them here.
