“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians 6:9 KJV)

Many of us are familiar with this scripture. Some post it or quote it when they are feeling a little weary. Because this walk with God can get weary.

Sometimes God is silent for a season. Or our life doesn’t match up to what God has promised us.

At times there seems to be a disconnect from our promise and our reality. God’s word feels far from us. The current season seems like it may never end.

We try to hope for light at the end of the tunnel. But many of us have become complacent in our disappointment. So much so that we don’t hope anymore because we have gotten tired of waiting for God to do the last thing He promised.

And the bible even says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” (Proverbs 13:12 NIV).

But like God told Ezekiel to eat the whole scroll, so must we. The next line to the scripture above says, “But a longing fulfilled is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12 NIV).

God has not forgotten about us. He has not forgotten the promises that He has made to us. His word cannot come back to him void.

“So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:11 AMPC

God’s word is working out. His word that He spoke is in the earth.

In Genesis 1, God spoke everything into existence, and it was. Everything responded to His words. And just like at the beginning, it is doing the same now.

Everything is responding to His word. Although we don’t see it, we must believe it. For our faith is rooted in our belief.

“For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”

Romans 10:10 NLT

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 KJV

“For we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]”

2 Corinthians 5:7 AMP

And as the first scripture says, in due season, we shall reap.

This isn’t a matter of if God is going to do it. It’s more of a matter of when God is going to do it. And that is in due season.

What season that will be, only God knows. God reveals things in part so that we forever need Him.

“‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’”

Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT

God is omnipotent (having all power) and omniscient (knowing everything). The Lord isn’t ignorant of our circumstances. He knows and sees exactly where we are and where we will be.

We must trust that God knows what He is doing. Even when we don’t agree, we must still worship Him. We must still proclaim that He is just and good. For God’s goodness isn’t depended on circumstances.

So, today surrender the need to know all the details. Rest in the knowledge that God reigns over all and His word shall be fulfilled. Shift from disappointment and weariness to hope and joy that God is never delayed.

For the God that we serve fulfills His promises as He did to Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David and many more.
