Many of us are familiar with the story of Daniel and the lion’s den. Our May series will commence with this story as the central focus, and you can read the story in Daniel 6.

What’s so amazing about this story is that Daniel was praying about prayer. The decree stated that if anyone prayed to anyone or god during the period of thirty days, then they would be thrown into the lion’s den (Daniel 6:7).

And once Daniel heard about this, he went to pray about it. His response to the decree was to pray.

The very thing that would get him thrown into the lion’s den, he did. Daniel didn’t change his routine. He continued to pray as normal. He opened his window and prayed towards Jerusalem.

Can we do as Daniel did?

Daniel didn’t stop doing what he was supposed to be doing, despite the impending situation. He turned to the one who he knew had the power to change the situation.

We must ask ourselves; do we stop being consistent in the things of God because of the challenges or obstacles that we may face? Do we have trouble being consistent in the things of God when the storms of life are raging?

Or is our faith and life built on the rock as Daniel’s was.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

Matthew 7: 24-25 KJV

Daniel didn’t run from prayer, although doing it would result in him getting thrown into the lion’s den. He kept praying as he normally did three times a day.

And like Daniel, we can’t stop praying in perilous times.

Praying isn’t just something that we do, but it’s our direct line to God.

Things happen when we pray. The words that we say have power and authority attached to them because we are sons and daughters of the Most High God.

And we can’t be apprehensive about the concept and practice of prayer. So, over the next few months, per the Lord’s instructions, our series will feature prayer as our principal topic.

As Daniel had a normal routine of prayer, we must ask ourselves, do we?

Today, make time to meet with God in prayer. Lay before Him your request and concerns. Don’t be anxious or worried. But trust that He is listening.

We must make prayer a lifestyle and add it into our daily routine. Don’t stop praying, no matter what you may face, as Daniel did.

Y’all have a great week and remember to uplift, inspire, enlighten, and, more importantly, encourage someone. If you want to reach out or have any prayer request or questions, then you can submit them here.
