Alignment Part 3 It’s Bigger Than You

Recap:

In Part one we learned that we must align our will with God’s, and to seek his kingdom first. In addition, the importance of operating out of our God given character.

Part two was about getting comfortable with the uncomfortable and identifying and/or doing what God has called us to do in this current season of our lives.

We will conclude this series by discussing another factor in aligning with God, which is setting our minds on the things of God and living out our God ordained purpose.

“And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on earth.”

Colossians 3:2 AMPC

We need to have the mind of Christ. Our thoughts should not be consumed with the things going on here on earth.

Our minds should be on Christ’s coming, doing the will of God here on earth, and eternity.

Our Lord Jesus shall come again, and we must be ready. The Lord wants as many souls saved and redeemed before then. For when He returns, He is coming to judge all.

He is allowing us this time to get it right.

“And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgement, when ungodly people will be destroyed. But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief.”

2 Peter 3:7-10 NLT

Strive to live each day as your last. Make the most out of each moment that you are given. Live intentionally, knowing that death is not the end but the beginning of eternity with our Father.

“Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.”

Colossians 4:5-6 MSG

How can you live intentionally today?

Living out Purpose / Let your Light Shine

The definition of purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

We were created for a reason in the time that we live in now. We were created for a purpose. And that purpose is to give God glory. We are all uniquely created and God has given each of us our own sphere to operate out of.

God does not intend for someone to take your place. He created you to operate in your lane.

Through the specific things He gives, whether gifts or talents, they are to be used to bring Him glory and point people to Jesus.

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.”

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 NLT

Your purpose is also a ministry. No matter what your occupation is, there is always an opportunity to minister. God placed you in that specific place to minister.

You not only minister through your witness, but also in the way that you live your life.

As Christians, we are an example of Christ. We must be an example in our speech and conduct.

“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”

1 Timothy 4:12 NLT

Jesus says in Matthew that we are the light of the world.

“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14&16 NIV

So be a light in front of others. Let them see you and see God. Let them see your faith at work. Let them see that the Lord provides all of your needs.
