We can never achieve perfection. The only person who achieved perfection and who was perfect was Christ.
By expecting perfection, we burden ourselves with unnecessary weight that wasn’t intended for us to carry. Instead, look to and lean on the one who is perfect.
So, we must stop putting pressure on ourselves to do everything right. Let us stop thinking we can do everything by ourselves. By operating out of our own will, we do not allow God to work in us. Without the power of God, we cannot do the will of God.
For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. [I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.]
Romans 7: 18 AMPC
God wants to fill up the areas where we are weak in. So, we many know that it is not by our own ability to do, but it is by the Spirit of God. God seeks to be glorified through the things He does within us.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
Also, by busying ourselves with trying to do and be everything to those around us, then we neglect what Jesus is telling us to do. For we are called not to worry about tomorrow and to seek His kingdom first (Matthew 6:34). By not prioritizing God’s kingdom, we consume ourselves with things that do not matter.
God does not want us bottled down with weight that will not produce fruit in our lives and weight he never intended for us to carry. He can and will use everything we go through to produce good fruit in our lives. But why add extra weight/pressure to our journey?
God does not want us to be perfect, but He wants to be made great in our weakness.
We aren’t perfect people, but we serve a perfect God who loves us unconditionally and knows what’s best for us. So, trust Him to give you what you need to do His will on the earth.
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God!”
Proverbs 3:5-7 MSG
God will use all our shortcomings for His glory. There is not anything that God cannot use. Do not handle everything on your own. Lean on God.
